Gadd’s Netflix show Baby Reindeer started as a one-man show based on his own life. At the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, it won awards for new writing and acting excellence. After a five-week run in London, it was set to move to the West End but was canceled due to COVID-19.

Despite this, the play won an Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in Affiliate Theatre and has been adapted into a seven-episode Netflix drama.

The show is about Donny (played by Gadd), who is stalked both physically and online by Martha (played by Jessica Gunning), a woman with mental health issues. After Donny helps her out of kindness, Martha begins to invade every part of his life.
